Photography has been a lifelong passion for me—the photographs you see on this website are the culmination of a long journey that began when I was a child.

When I was eight years old, I gave up little league baseball during the summers, so I could spend time with my aunt and uncle on their farm in northern Pennsylvania. I worked hard during those days, but what I remember the most were the crops of hay, wheat, and corn as they grew in the fields. My aunt Winifred had a baby brownie camera, and I began carrying it around with me, snapping photos of the different crops and farm equipment that I thought were the most interesting. That was the first time I can remember being so fascinated by nature that I wanted to document it with photos.  I sure wish I still had those first pictures!

Even though I don’t have those photos any more, I’ve carried my love of capturing nature in all her glory with me all my life, even when I wasn’t able to devote as much time as I would’ve liked. College and my early career as a middle school teacher didn’t leave much room for photography, but luckily I experienced another summer that brought me closer to my passion for nature. It was the summer right after that first year of teaching when I decided to enroll in Taxonomy courses, where we studied very tiny, primitive plants. Once again, these beauties of nature were almost microscopic and yet had beautiful flowers. This peaked my interest and brought the camera back into my life. This time, it was my father-in-law who came to the rescue, building me a special lens for a camera he owned, one that would allow me to see every detail on the plants I was studying. He even built me a special tripod! The birthday when he presented them to me is one of the most special moments of my life.

The photography bug had really bitten me! Now that I had proper equipment and a renewed passion for nature, I wasted no time in taking off for the perfect place to study all sorts of plant life: the Adirondack Mountains. While I was there I went wild, surrounded by all that beautiful scenery. I guess that awe has never really left me. Even though that was years ago, I still am most passionate about photographing natural things using natural light. If Mother Nature has given us so much beauty on her own, why would we interfere? My motto as an artist is just to be patient and watch what she can do.  Then photograph it.

I may be an older adult now but I still get overwhelmed with all the details and magic in the natural world here in Arizona, just as I did when I was a kid on the farm in Pennsylvania.

I hope my Arizona photography makes you feel just a little bit of the joy that I feel when I’m taking them. There are so many magical places in Arizona and I am trying to get to them all, just for you to enjoy. I hope you pick up that magic feeling.  I’d love it if you enjoyed them in your home or offices as a way to bring the natural beauty around us into your space!

Thank you for visiting my site, I’m so happy to share these pictures with you.
